I first stumbled upon Repeater at a local dive bar in San Diego. They instantly caught my attention with their stage presence, and the fact that they sounded different than the average So-Cal indie rock band. Their post-punk angst and new wave influence made me think they were from the UK, but in fact they hail from sunny Long Beach! Repeater is reminiscent of a cross between The Cure and At The Drive In, with chiming guitar and keyboard sounds and military-like drums. These guys are definitely a band to keep an eye on.
The 5 piece is currently in the midst of writing their full-length debut, "We Walk From Safety", and their current EP, "The Patterns", is available on iTunes. The band will be playing a show in Hollywood on Monday, November 15th at The Dragonfly. To keep up with their recordings and shows, you can follow them on twitter.
The Deli Magazine was born in NYC's Attorney Street in 2004, in the shape of a print issue with a then unknown band on its cover, called Grizzly Bear. Ths NYC blog came in 2005, then the SF one in 2006, and then 9 more in the following years. The Deli is focused on the coverage of emerging bands and solo artists with a 100% local focus - no exceptions!
