Jake's CMJ 2014 Days 4: Sharpless, Attic Basement, Mitski, Small Wonder

My Friday night was spent primarily at The Silent Barn (pictured) for the Miscreant and Father/Daughter Records showcase. I'll add that I spent all of the next day there as well; having spent the most time there than any venue, Silent Barn had my favorite bills of CMJ by far, and none of them were official. Although I was particularly exhausted that day/night and ended up leaving earlier than I would've liked, I did catch some great acts that I had been meaning to see for a while. I will say that this was a stacked bill, I'm only going to talk about a few of the bands that really stand out to me. - Keep reading Jake Saunders report of Day 4 of the CMJ Music Marathon 2014.

JP's CMJ 2014 Day3: Girl Tears, Mega Bog, Dinner, Widowspeak, Bailiff, The New Tarot, The Teen Age, Charly Bliss, Low Fat Getting High

Hey! I actually got out of my house before 2! Progress, man. I suppose I stopped drinking early enough the night before that it made for a somewhat conventional nights' sleep, odd hours. I woke up to a barrage of text messages from last night. My phone had died and I was playing catch-up on my life while trying to make it to Baby's for the Captured Tracks unofficial day party. Jesus I think this thing's starting to take a toll on me. I'm uncharacteristically writing this on the fly, on my rejuvenated telephone, trying not to fall behind. Or asleep. - keep reasing JP Basileo's report of Day 3 of the CMJ Music Marathon 2014 (picture by Micah Weisberg)

Jake's CMJ Day 3: Malatese, Life Size Maps, Haybaby, Homeshake, LeRug, No One and the Somebodies

Day 3 ended up being my Brooklyn band day. Somehow I ended up seeing all the bands I see play all the time, which might not be in the spirit of CMJ but, whatever (fuck you by the way for criticizing me).  I did get to see a bunch of bands I had been meaning to see for a long time; I'll stop talking now lets just get on with it already. - Read Jake Saunders' report of Day 3 of the CMJ Music Marathon 2014.

JP's CMJ 2014 Day 2: Caveman, Wampire, Splashh, Celestial Shore, J Ferdinand, Icewater, Ronald Paris, Future Punx

I had a bit of a late start today. I slept through three alarms, and when I finally did wake up, I felt like I had cement running through my veins. Sore, hungover, out of it. It was well past noon and I had wanted, or planned, already to be caffeinated, at a show, and to have had my day 1 recap written; not to be standing over a stove reheating the chicken over rice with white sauce I’d impulsively gotten at 4am. Sonofabitch. I shot over (and by shot, I very much mean moseyed) to Cake Shop for the Terrorbird showcase. Clearly it had been underway a good amount. Between eating godawful leftovers, writing up yesterday’s happenings, crawling into a shower and then crawling to the coffee shop, it was something like 4pm! It’s a terrible feeling when it’s the first time you’re stepping outside for the day, and you can see that the sun’s already starting to go down. Keep Reading JP Basileo's CMJ 2014 Day 2 report.

Sunflower Bean played The Deli CMJ show at Pianos on Friday 10.24 with Bo Ningen

Too bad for you if you missed our tense Indie/Psych/Electro CMJ show at Pianos with The Deli's 40th issue's cover band Sunflower Bean, Shilpa Ray, Japanese phenomenon Bo Ningen, electro crooners MOTHXR and many other awesome bands. By the way, we all like to have our choices validated, and the Brooklyn trio got some serious love from NPR, check it out. Here's the video of our favorite song (at least among the few ones they have recorded) '2013.'
