Alt Soul artist Quiet Luke plays Sunnyvale 07.20

New York artist Quiet Luke treks over an interesting array of styles, blending sedated but emotional lyrics that heed to the classic R&B feel, with distorted electronic beats and heavily modulated synth lines accompanied by funky, staccato guitar parts. He released his debut album Beholden last year, which included the energized single “Escapist” (streaming), a track embodying his exploration of modern electronica styles and signature vocals, serving as a bold debut for the young artist. You can see Quiet Luke live at Sunnyvale on July 20st. - Tafari Lemma

New Vita and the Woolf LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Vita and the Woolf recently dropped their much-anticipated album, Tunnels, via Believe Digital. Draped in dramatic synths and pulse-elevating percussion, Jennifer Pague’s elegant, soulfully powerful voice continuously reaches new heights. While all those components further entrench themselves, an underlying danceability emerges through the shadowy soundscapes. You can find Vita and the Woolf showing off their versatility on Saturday, August 19 at the 56th annual Philadelphia Folk Festival.

Saturday 06.24 - The Revolution 16, ft. Leala Cyr, Old Bliss, & Miyachi

This Saturday marks the continuation of the Deli-sponsored Revolution series at the artist-led venue National Sawdust in Williamsburg. In honor of June being New York Music Month, the Mayor’s office will be funding all production costs, making this a free event! The 16th installment of the series will feature performances by Leala Cyr, Olu Bliss, and Miyachi.

Bilingual rapper Miyachi will be headlining the event, with tracks like “BAD & ブジ” (a Bad and Boujee remix, streaming below) and “Wangstyle” that delve into his experience of growing up as a biracial Asian American with an immigrant parent. Berklee College of Music grad Leala Cyr channels a different energy in her performances, honing in on her classical training for trumpet and jazz vocals. Positivity is key for Alt-Soul singer Olu Bliss, whose song “Norm Life” (streaming below) tackles serious issues while retaining the message that one must keep pushing forward. - Lilly Milman
