Jill Peacock serves up soulful electro tunes + plays Pianos on 10.22

NYC transplant (by the way of Toronto), Jill Peacock, may not have the ostentatious fervor of the bird who shares her name, but her music might give you a reason to strut like one. Her self-titled EP is 5-tracks worth of engaging soul-pop that prominently displays her effortless vocals against minimalist R&B instrumentals. It's a release that will tempt even the most rigid listeners to head-bob along to the velvety beats. Stream her single "Sunshine," streaming below, and see her live at Pianos on October 22nd. -Olivia Sisinni

RoniCea - Debut Single "Bassline"

RoniCea is a Toronto based soul singer who just released her first single “Bassline (ft. YoDaddyDoe)”. This track has major throwback vibes. The spacious beat with the synth/keys over the top hit that 90’s RnB spot so well. You don’t hear many new tunes like this nowadays. This will be cranked with the windows down all over Toronto very soon. This has the vibes of the peak era of RnB. I think they should have extended the outro for longer and really let that beat flow. Still a good tune no doubt. – Kris Gies

Wheetay brings semi-electronic soul to The Tin Roof (10.11) & The Country (10.13)

The funky, stripped-down Southern soul made by emerging act Wheetay—fronted by Thomas White—is exactly what the Nashville scene needs right now. White takes on the responsibility of writing, recording, producing, mixing, and mastering all the tracks, yet he still considers the project a collaborative effort as his friends play a role in inspiring his tracks and bringing them to life. Explained in his own words as a “lo-fi approach to high fidelity music,” Wheetay is finally taking to the stage with a lineup of live shows, in which he will combine live instruments with looping tracks. The sultry, semi-electronic sound created by White and co. is fresh, fun, and a nice change of pace for Music City. If you can’t make his show tonight at the Tin Roof, then definitely make sure to catch him opening for Willie Shaw at The Country on the 13th. - Lilly Milman
