“Hold On” is the heavy new music video from hip-hop group STL GLD

STL GLD, a Boston based hip hop duo comprised of rapper Moe Pope and producer The Arcitype, put out a heavy new video for their single “Hold On”, dramatically depicting three different instances of recent Police Brutality. “Hold On” comes from their sophomore album Torch Song, which won “Album of the Year” at the 2017 Boston Music Awards. Eldridge Gravy & the Court Supreme want to do NYE the right way

Big bands are the best for massive celebrations. The energy they bring to the stage and to the crowd is integral for bringing vibrancy to any party, if they're good at what they do, which is why it makes total sense that Eldridge Gravy & the Court Supreme are hosting two New Year's Eve celebration shows. Both of them are even sold out.

Eldridge Gravy & the Court Supreme run deep with their band members and hopefully all 10+ of them will be present as they takeover the Tractor Tavern on 12.30 and 12.31. Unfortunately, those who wish to spend New Year's Eve with the supergroup and Bread & Butter, the lively supporting for the NYE's set, won't have much luck. The biggest weekend of the year, since we're all so excited to see it off, is sold out.

Try your hand at experiencing some of the exuberance from the sidewalk but either way, it'll be guaranteed drunk fun.

Nate B intrigues with imaginative lo-fi soul

Nate B’s new track “take u out” adds some sparkle to the characteristic dust of his repertoire.  It’s easy to get lost in; like his past compositions it unfolds like clouds of smoke, an opium fog whose marshmallow jaws gently pound you into ecstatic submission.  Pitched-up vocal harmonies resurrected from the days of doo-wop undulate over a lo-fi drum loop and jazzy synth lines and a Hendrix-esque guitar riff.  Dousing upbeat and quixotic lyrics in minor progressions, B creates an compelling tension.  He understands the art he wants to create and composes it with the same meticulous care he gives to his beautiful photographywww.nathanbajar.com/.  Dim the lights and turn him up.

Jelani Sei plays prog-R&B at Trans-Pecos 12.23

The last few years have seen a rise in experimental, genre-bending, independently produced music. Perhaps this is due to the internet’s ability to access almost any music instantly, or maybe the breadth of music already created pushes artists towards a disregard for barriers of style. The disappearance of label-driven artist development might be part of it too. Whatever the cause, the NYC scene is producing a lot of incredibly innovative music — and Jelani Sei is part of this phenomenon. The Connecticut/New York group plays soulful, hip-hop and jazz inspired music with a flair for indie and alt rock traditions. Without abandoning the approachable framework of pop music, Jelani Sei has created a complex and intelligent sound. You can hear the group’s idiosyncratic style opening for T-Rextasy on December 23rd at Trans-Pecos. – Cameron Carr
