Dylan Jane Record Release Show at Bourbon & Branch Oct. 6

Folk, at its core, is anchored in a songwriter’s ability to transport listeners to a "fly on the wall" perspective. That uninhibited point of view, in which communicative distance shrinks to a personal level, creates a bond. Tonight, as she celebrates the release of her new EP, Deceiving Yourself and Everyone Else, which was produced by The Lawsuits' Brian Dale Allen Strouse, Dylan Jane draws one in close at Bourbon & Branch. Silhouetted in Americana, the music imparts the fire-catching effects of pensive proximity, inviting warmth capable of sending a chill up your spine. A pair of locals, whom made contributions to the album, in the yearning emotive yet casual, alt-country, sonic steps of Friendship and the folk-spun, powerful elegance of Chelsea Mitchell (Dirty Dollhouse) helps in shaping this bill that is completed by Solar. Bourbon & Branch, 705 N. 2nd St., 8pm, $10, 21+ - Michael Colavita

New Music Video: "Let Me Get There" (Feat. Kurt Vile) - Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions

Twinkling stars and the calming current of the ocean seen through a noir filter provide the backdrop in the video for “Let Me Get There,” directed by Hope Sandoval herself. Endearingly odd, floating statues mouth the lyrics as the intimate narrative between Sandoval and Kurt Vile unfolds. The song is featured on Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions forthcoming album, Until the Hunter, scheduled for release on November 4 via Tendril Tales.

New Track: "What It Seems" - Dylan Jane

On her latest EP, Dylan Jane surrounds herself with a cavalcade of local folk stalwarts. Produced by Brian Dale Allen Strouse (The Lawsuits), Deceiving Yourself and Everyone Else will be released on October 7. Featuring Friendship’s Peter Gill on pedal steel as well as Chelsea Mitchell (Dirty Dollhouse) on backing vocals, the album's lead single, “What It Seems,” enlists a rolling, folk feel as bass, piano and percussion set the wheels in motion. Steadying the collage of twisting semi-dreamy imagery, the backing vocals offer a glimmer of brightness amid the tug and pull of contemplation. Dylan Jane will be celebrating the record’s release this Thursday, October 6 at Bourbon & Branch, which will also include Friendship, Solar and Chelsea Mitchell.

New Tombo Crush LP Available for Streaming & Download

Plumbing the darkness and the grain of DIY recording sonics, Tombo Crush manage to fuse their guitar work and aching vocals into surprisingly revealing songs. There is something very alluring about the project's latest full-length album, Ant Farm, that begs for further listening, as well as a quirkiness that winks for you to not take it all so seriously. Tombo Crush are in their own vein, and are perfectly content there.
