Paper Gates drops 'Memory Box' tape and zine tonight

We first discovered Paper Gates last year at Treefort Music Festival and he quickly became one of our favorites in avant creation. He played the festival again this year, but what we're focusing on today is the new tape and coinciding zine he's releasing tonight at The Liquor Store.

Based on the Paper Gates production we've heard before, Memory Box is guaranteed to be another sonic adventure down the rabbit hole of the brain behind Paper Gates, Andy Rayborn. His adept use of bass clarinet shows a mastery of compound minimalism by creating such large soundscapes with so few instrumental tools.

Joining Rayborn in the release of the Memory Box tape and zine will performances by Sheers and a solo set from Sam Adams of Sama Dams.

New Track: "You Are Not Your Mind" - Eric Slick

Palisades, the forthcoming album from Eric Slick (Dr. Dog, Lithuania), will be released via EggHunt Records on April 21. Concise pockets of percussion unite with keys, pacing the album’s latest single “You Are Not Your Mind”. The song’s pensive, open-air aesthetic rejuvenates, fitting the recent pleasant arrival of spring. Slick will be heading out on a slew of tour dates with Sinkane, starting next week.

New Shelf Life LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Christian Coated Ethical Arena, the new full-length album from prolific Philly songwriter/recording artist Scotty Leicht, a.k.a. Shelf Life, negotiates an emotive maze of melody. Jarring, noisy instrumentation surrounds even-keeled vocals, creating a consoling, in-the-eye-of-the-storm sound. A calming pensive but potentially volatile environment takes shape, easing one into a comfortable but ever alert awareness. Shelf Life will be sharing these new ditties at The Pharmacy this evening with Blue Smiley, Fond Han, and Options.

New Boosegumps EP Available for Streaming & Download

Heart Peach, the new EP from Boosegumps, is the type of brightly lit, melodic music that can temporarily lift the shades. An inherent, honest optimism radiates from the keyboard-driven, percussive-sequenced tracks, whose unassuming, swift nature sheds any barriers. It’s a much-needed glimmer of hope amid all this negativity. Boosegumps will be part of the Witch H(c)unt LP release show this evening at All Nite Diner that also includes Curtis Cooper and S.T.A.R.W.O.O.D.
