New Videos: Red Room Series - Mitch Esparza

Ingenuity and sonic manipulation are evident in Mitch Esparza’s trio of videos, recorded at Sleepless Sound Studio for their Red Room Sessions. “GiraSol/Guitarra Inerane” incorporates a haunting beauty with a volatile edge and a wandering elegance. “You Shouldn't Do That/You Shouldn't Find Me” comes at you with its non-stop fury, while the layered effects of “Disappointing Muse” offer a glimpse into the process of sonic interplay in melding pieces to create a smooth sonic quilt. Half Waif tours with Pinegrove + plays Market Hotel on 08.06

With her latest project, Half Waif's Nandi Rose Plunkett has successfully bridged the ever-growing chasm between "avant" and pop, taking Radiohead's lesson to a more intimate and less pretentious place. The band's sophomore album 'Probable Depths" is an intriguing blend of synth and orchestral pop full of texture and otherworldly melodies. Half Waif will be back in Brooklyn performing as a trio on June 6th at the Market Hotel, to the end of their ongoing tour throughout the US. —Henry Solotaroff-Webber

New Track: "Brett (Maps Remix)" - Vita and the Woolf

Sleek, sinister, strolling sounds are injected as UK producer Maps provides a personal stamp, remixing electro-pop duo Vita and the Woolf’s “Brett”. Jen Pague’s soulfully powerful vocals echo, gaining a percussive uptick, ushering movement as a new space emerges. We’ll keep our eyes and ears alert as more info for their album TUNNELS (due out later this year) surfaces. (Photo by Phobymo)

A Deli NYC premiere: Ivy Meissner - “Talk At Me”

Ivy Meissner has a way of making you picture much of her music as a visual field while you listen. The Brooklyn singer-songwriter's new song 'Talk To Me' begins simply enough, but takes on new meanings when she collides her softly spoken acoustic guitar and mellow vocals with loudly ringing telephones, heavily distorted drum kits, and telegraph wires. It's a healthy dose of musique concrete dancing around Meissner's wistful lyrics. Check out the tune below, and see the artist when she plays with Charlotte Cornfield and Space Captain on August 6th at Littlefield. - Mike Levine (@Goldnuggets)
