New Track: "Dharma Blues" - Bug Martin

“Dharma Blues” is featured on Gutterball, the forthcoming release from Bug Martin. A dusty, cinematic haunt soaks in as you step into outlaw spaces. A sense of methodical purpose looms as the earnest twang of vocals & guitar unite. A dire drama unfolds within desolate surroundings.

Del Water Gap releases new EP "Don't Get Dark"

S. Holden Jaffe has released solo indie folk music as Del Water Gap for the better part of the decade, and just last month that project continued with the release of the new EP Don't Get Dark. Again inspired by romantic encounters in dim rooms, the EP contains six tracks that capture the more pining side of love. Songs like "Theory of Emotion" and "Laid Down My Arms" feature Jaffe's vulnerable lyric-writing skill and a more matured look at three-dimension love, showing not just the romance but the many facets of it, from the pleasure to the pain. Take a listen to the first track from the record, "Don't Say Nothing", below. - Will Sisskind

Weekend Warrior - May 17 - 19

Having hosted innumerable historic evenings, a legendary landmark, The Troc, commemorates with its Last Local Band Blowout Sunday. The billing is loaded with the venue’s Philly favorites, which include Pissed Jeans, Stinking Lizaveta, Dandelion, and The Three 4 Tens among others. It’s difficult to imagine how the Center City building may change, but hopefully our musical memories will last forever. You will be missed (well, maybe not the hard-ass security;-).

And speaking of missing, Kyle Gilbride’s Missing Earth is part of a stacked show tomorrow evening at Planet Phitness. There’s a mellow, meandering-through-one's-thoughts lyricism, with a celestial backdrop that propels ahead, found in the project’s compositions. A meditative, synth-centric sound saturates. The blissful blitz of contagious energy-elevating, emotive-channeling, power-pop, known as Psychic Flowers, will also be on display. Bookended by a pair of Boston outfits in Fucko and Sundog, the lineup is reinforced by the lush, dreamy melodies and tenacious riff combination of Field Mouse. – Michael Colavita
