New Music Video: "War" - Tunji Ige

Tunji Ige premiered a new music video over at NPR's First Watch for the seductive, pulsating single "War," found on his latest EP Mission Calls. Directed by longtime collaborator and visual artist Glass Face, a.k.a. Josh Goldenberg, the video becomes an extension of the album's cover art, which "was inspired by Magritte & other surrealist artists." It's easy to get lost in the dreamy landscapes that were shot in Los Angeles.

Kansas Bible Company preps new album release with "She's in the Garden," live this Friday (06.03)

It's just a taste, just a tease, but the dreamy "She's in the Garden" from Kansas Bible Company's upcoming Paper Moon shows that the band is drinking deep from a pool of laudable influences. Centered around the reliable tenderness of a Rhodes and leading into a horn breakout bound for who-knows-where, "She's in the Garden" sounds something like Jason Molina with a smile on his face.

The Bible Co. has a hometown show at the Beast coinciding with the release of the album on June 3, this Friday, so check out the track and then be sure to show these talented locals some love in-person style. -Austin Phy

Henry Hall is bringing his shape-shifting voice to Mercury Lounge on 6/1

Henry Hall is one of those singer-songwriters that successfully dodges any attempt to pin a genre on him. His discography to date, notably album-less, is filled with tracks that range from light indie pop-rock to harder stuff reminiscent of grunge, but some of his tracks eschew that spectrum (and instrumention) altogether and enlist producers to allow Hall to enter the world of James Blake-esque electronic R&B. Hall's vocals, though, are always at the forefront of each track, and he demonstrates impressive range that serves as the lynchpin of the diverse melodies present in his music. Hall and his endlessly malleable voice will grace the Mercury Lounge's stage on June 1st. - Henry Solotaroff-Webber

Tuxis Giant releases split EP with Traded

To listen to Boston based trio Tuxis Giant is to delve into the deep recesses of your mind. The rollicking guitar riffs and the gentle plucking of the chords play out like quiet, contemplative ruminations that creep up to you in the dark hours of the night. O'Conner’s voice glides over the melancholy melodies like pleading whispers before the electric guitar swells and his voice bellows over them. Tuxis Giant is the type of band you can listen to during long, midnight drives by yourself–the windows down with the wind racing past you. The band released a full length album in 2015 but just released a 4 song EP split with Traded (streaming below). Expect a full band show in a month so keep an eye on their Facebook page for details and listen to their album below!
