Worriers and Painted Zeros play The Mercury Lounge on 04.21

Brooklyn Political punk act, Worriers, announced their upcoming headline show at Mercury Lounge on April 21st, joined on stage by Philly's Pouty (ex-Slutever, Upset) and Don Giovanni label-mates Painted Zeros, who play dreamy post punk and are also based in NYC.  Worriers is currently finishing a 5-week eastern US tour that included dates supporting The Smith Street Band and The Falcon (Lawrence Arms, Alkaline Trio, Loved Ones) along with an official appearance at SXSW. This will be the band’s first New York headline date of the year, after sold-out shows supporting Iron Chic and The Smith Street Band.

New Track: "ACD (Abscessive Compulsive Disorder)" - Nothing

Sustained somber and a smattering of the drum skins dictate the tone of “ACD (Abscessive Compulsive Disorder)”, the new single from Philly's own Nothing. Featured on their forthcoming album Tired of Tomorrow, which is scheduled for release on May 13 via Relapse Records, the song carries a meditative yet noisy air, with the injection of an anthemic chorus that burrows in your brain. Nothing is currently scheduled to perform next in Philly on Friday, July 8 at Union Transfer, for a belated record release show, which will also includes Culture Abuse and Mary Lattimore & Jeff Zeigler.

Surprise Creepoid Show for Pat Troxell's Bday - BRING WEED at Ortlieb's April 12

Creepoid just wrapped up a tour with Restorations, and the gang is back home to celebrate drummer Pat Troxell's bday this evening with a surprise performance at Ortlieb's. You have to know that the band will be tight, after clocking all those recent miles on the road. (Well, maybe a little looser since it is a party after all.) You'll also be able to get your Taco Tuesday grub on. And the man of the hour requested that you bring weed so please don't disappoint. Cheers, Pat! Ortlieb's, 847 N. 3rd St., 10pm, $10, 21+ - Q.D. Weekend Warrior, April 8 - 10

Restorations will be making a stop home this evening at Johnny Brenda’s. The group’s music has the openness and grand scale suitable for the arena, but maintains its approachable indie roots. Songs open up into uplifting, heroic musical climaxes that are begging to be emphasized by elaborate light shows or columns of sparks, but still share similarities with basement bands like Cap’n Jazz through their use of arpeggiated melodies and expressively dissonant chords. Jon Loudon’s coarse though sonorous smoker voice sounds somewhere between Psychedelic Furs’ Richard Butler and Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, while incorporating the vocal inflections of (forgive me) Bono. Joining Restoration will be tourmates Creepoid, who bring a more dismal approach to the stage with darker textures and a detached, despondent expression. They take the bleakness and grayness from bummergaze bands like Slowdive and pair them with the ferocity and guttural growl of grunge in a similar way to contemporary bands True Widow or Cloakroom. The Dirty Nil will kick off the night with peak energy levels and their nitrous-fueled garage-punk. Imagine Nation Of Ulysses with more yelling and more fuzz. Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 8pm, $15 (Sold Out), 21+ - Bryce Woodcock
