Square Peg Round Hole EP Release Show at Crane Arts Dec. 15

Crane Arts presents a rare opportunity this evening in the Icebox, as the experimental trio of Square Peg Round Hole, accompanied by a horn section as well as Josh Miller for a commemorative (one-time only) performance, brings their new ambient-oriented EP Five Years (Spartan Records) to life. The album, in and of itself, shifts gears, traveling through delicate, contemplative clouds in lieu of their characteristic, percussive style. Not only that, the EP will be paired/packaged with a limited edition original art print from the band’s own Carlos Pecheco-Perez. The transfixing electro-noise collective of Triangulus ushers in a sonic session that extends the spectrum. Crane Arts, 1400 N. American St., 8pm, $5/$20 (admission + original artwork print & EP download), All Ages - Michael Colavita

Zula premieres video for "F*ck This," plays Trans-Pecos on 01.06

On Zula's new single "F*ck This," from their new 8 track mini-album 'Grasshopper,' at second 22, after a plodding intro, a misleadingly incoherent drum pattern triggers the thought that "this band actually wants to f*ck with us" - a thought to be read in the somewhat platonic acception most commonly used in the sentence "don't f*ck with me!". Here at The Deli, though, we never say that because we absolutely love to be f*cked with in any possible way, but in particular when the f*cking 'agent' is music. Often we actually go through long periods of sadness due to the fact that we don't find any bands interested in f*cking with us, dammit! So let's enjoy Zula's new single and video together, from a band that already gave us a NYC Record of the Month back in 2014. Like Italians, Zula do it better - don't miss their upcoming live show at Trans-Pecos on January 6th.

New Music Video: "Juniper Pearl" - The Orange Drop

Neo-psych outfit The Orange Drop continues further down the genre's rabbit hole in the group's new video for "Juniper Pearl". It's the lead single off the band's upcoming album, Stoned in Love, which was recorded at Spice House Sound and mixed by Colin Hegna (Brian Jonestown Masscre). The record will be released on vinyl and CD via the UK's Mega Dodo, and they'll be celebrating its arrival on Friday, January 6 at Bourbon & Branch with Meddlesome Meddlesome Meddlesome Bells, Seafrost, and Lunacy, who will also be welcoming a new EP.
