Oakland's Normies release "Space" & play Eli's Mile High Club (4.13)

There’s something very genuine that comes across in the debut single “Space” (streaming below) by the new Oakland post-punk outfit Normies. Besides being easy listening, the track is well-crafted from top to bottom, without losing the lo-fi appeal. The vocals rise and fall alongside the driving guitar parts, all while maintaining a dreamy appeal. This track is a strong start for the three-piece, and leaves us excited for what’s next. You can find them tomorrow (April 13th) at Eli’s Mile High Club, alongside Freak No Hitter, Scrim, and Screaming. - Lilly Milman

New Track: "Gold Burner" - Mattress Food

Moon Town, the forthcoming album from the Sami Rahman-led project Mattress Food, will be released on April 14. Steeped in a Brit-folk/pop resonance, “Gold Burner” incorporates pleasant orchestral clutter, with a delayed flicker of light. Feel free to temporarily tune out and escape the chaos of your daily life. You can also catch Mattress Food this evening at Bourbon & Branch, where they'll be supporting Smellco's EP release show with The Wrong Band.

The Killer Wails - "Shake It" Single, Junction City 04.11

Toronto garage punk band The Killer Wails have released a new track “Shake It” and it’s an absolutely raucous tune. The greasy bass thumps along which really keeps the track moving. The vocals have an excellent “fuck you” tone in ‘em which is always a good thing. You can tell these fellas will put on a rowdy show. This Wednesday (April 11th) they play Junction City Music Hall with a couple other deadly bands The Thinly Veiled Double Entendres and Johnny 2 Fingers & The Deformities from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. You owe it to yourself to have a wild Wednesday! – Kris Gies
