Psych Folk Breakout The Solars release new EP

Sleigh-bells and classically folk harmonies meet and find peace on the provocative debut EP from The Solars. Retitled Remastered emphasizes the Boston psych-folk group’s thoughtful attention to the recording process. Taking the dark side of psych and marrying it with the gentle appeal of folk, The Solars are sure to grab attention from the Boston/New England experimental scene. Members Miles Hewitt and Quetzal Herzig charismatically draw from groups like Alt-J and Local Natives on their debut. All the same, this album is pure enchantment.-Allison Miller

New Midwestern Exposure LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Midwestern Exposure follows up its Grizzly Bear EP (released earlier this year in March) with a new full-length album, entitled The West. The trio splices elements of haunting country-blues with an ominous bite, stirring up the surroundings; however, despite those sinister sounds, fresh, folk-oriented points of optimism persist as well. They'll be setting up shop at Ortlieb’s on Wednesday, August 9, for a billing with the Dirty Soap Blues Band and King Kong and the Bleeding Hearts.
