Parquet Court's frontman announces solo project called A. Savage

Parquet Court's frontman Andrew Savage has always drawn on influences from the South, but now he’s using his new solo project A. Savage to turn up the Western heat. While Parquet Court made use of twangy guitars and Savage's rough, cowboy-like vocals, his upcoming solo album Thawing Dawn uses pointed track titles like "Buffalo Calf Road Woman" and "Wild Wild Horses" to send a clearly Western, nostalgic image. The first single "Winter in the South" (streaming below) retains the mystery of Parquet Court, but is also more organic, rumbling, and lonesome. Texas tour dates begin this week and Thawing Dawn will be out on October 13th. - Allie Miller

New Track: "Accidentally Like A Martyr" (Warren Zevon Cover) - The War On Drugs

Hometown heroes The War On Drugs have a new album coming out on August 25 via Atlantic Records, entitled A Deeper Understanding. To help warm up for their upcoming North American/European tour, the band played an intimate performance on June 8, 2017 at the beloved Bowery Ballroom, and while in NYC, they also stopped by Spotify Studios to lay down some promotional recordings, which included a cover of Warren Zevon's "Accidentally Like A Martyr" (below), off his 1978 album Excitable Boy. You can catch The War On Drugs performing next in Philly on Thursday, September 21 at the Dell Music Center.

Coyote Run venture into the open road with country-folk jaunt "Again Again"

Coyote Run build things quick on "Again Again," a country-folk jaunt with a cosmic, honky-tonk feel that immediately draws you in. The main project of Oceanside-based singer Katie Shahbaz skips a formal introduction and forges a locked groove, ramping up a vocal harmony that brushes against her honeyed voice. Shahbaz also lets it shred in the final portion with a bluesy solo that is set off at just the right time, as it fades out just the way it started. With a winding rhythm that could go on and on (or again and again?), Shahbaz's sense of longing portrays a fitting compliment to that dry summer drive; it's a two-minute romp that ends much too soon.

"Again Again" is the first single off of Shahbaz's debut full-length, Infinite Disappearance of Fear, which is set for release in October. - Juan Rodríguez
