Posers Opening for NOFX at the TLA April 27

It’s well-pieced together melodic rock that gradually climbs before riding the musical momentum down a sharp decline in stampeding fashion. The quartet of Posers, opening as part of the NOFX sold-out show at the TLA, smacks with a sense of immediacy, balancing harmonious anthem-tuned choruses with a quick-bursting instrumental cohesion, wielding itself with sticky, memorable narratives. The band embraces the freeing unity of power-pop, while exhibiting a well-honed sense of firing on all cylinders exemplified in tasty guitar solos and a backend that won’t sit still. Tonight, they’ll be joined by Milwaukee pop-punks Direct Hit!, who will likely be showcasing songs from their forthcoming new album Wasted Mind, and the heavy-ska combination of Mephiskapheles lays down the path to NOFX. New Music Video: "Caitlyn" - JANK

The video for “Caitlyn,” directed by Ian Neisser, finds the trio of JANK waking, baking, and then horsing around with their dog costume-adorned friend Shane Davidson. While the first half the footage is playful, the second finds the band performing the melodically-frenzied track in a basement. Awkward Pop Songs, which was released on tape via Honest Face Records/Funeral Sounds) is set for a vinyl release on May 20 via Creep Records. Also, keep your eyes/ears peeled for a new EP. Cheat Aqua is all about low-key harmony on self-titled EP

The self-titled debut EP by Cheat Aqua is a collection of brooding, sentimental pieces recorded by a one-man band (plus drum machine) and brought to life by the wonders of tape and its warm lo-fi resonance. Not one to leave a quarter of his four track recorder unloved, Cheat Aqua's main man Vaughn Walters fills out the sonic space with more harmonies than a Thin Lizzy guitar solo made sentient covering early Iron & Wine. The EP a wistful little gem, and we'd recommend you check it out on a cool, still night of your choosing. -Austin Phy
