Lenny Bull - Single "Don't Talk About It" From Debut Record, Rivoli 04.25

The frontwoman from the now defunct alt-country band Torero is off on her own now playing a similar style but with a more retro rock n’ roll vibe. Lenny Bull’s first solo single “Don’t Talk About It” has a very catchy feel to it with a classic rock sound similar to The Heartbreakers. The solo has some psychedelic licks goin’ on and the vocals are as powerful as the lyrics themselves. According to Bull the song’s she writes “dive into relationships, getting over yourself and not taking any bullshit.” Lenny Bull’s record release party is Thursday April 25th at The Rivoli with Huttch. – Kris Gies

New Track: "Louder" - Slingshot Dakota

“Louder,” the lead single from Slingshot Dakota’s forthcoming album Heavy Banding, expresses an undeterred perseverance in the face of doubt. Keys and percussion barrel ahead in bright, brutal fashion as a relentless message is delivered. Reinforced by Kiley Lotz (Petal) as well as the members of Dikembe and Expert Timing, the chorus serves as unflinching mantra: “We’ll just keep getting louder.” The record is scheduled for release on May 24 via Community Records/Specialist Subject Records/Stiff Slack, and the duo will begin its tour on Thursday, May 30 at Everybody Hits, supported by Harmony Woods and Hit Like a Girl.

Alternative Hip Hop group Oxymorrons are playing Rough Trade 03.30

With Southern hip-hop artists like 21 Savage and Travis Scott reigning supreme across mainstream media, it is refreshing to see groups like Queens' Oxymorrons take a different and bold approach to the genre. Oxymorrons soaks their bass-heavy hip-hop songs in elements of alternative rock, producing catchy hooks that complement their flowing verses, hence crystallizing the meaning of alternative hip-hop. The group is a perfect blend of everything that makes NYC a red-brick melting pot of genres: hard-charging licks, contagious beats, and rapid vocal deliveries form part of their performance. They are coming to Rough Trade on March 30. - Rene Cobar
