Telepathic Opening for Atlantic Thrills at KFN Nov. 9

After putting Bleeding Rainbow to rest, Sarah Everton and Rob Garcia have embarked on a new project, Telepathic. Recruiting drummer Paul Brinkley, they self-released their debut EP Power of Ten earlier this year, which was mixed by Kyle Gilbride (Wherever Audio). Where Everton and Garcia might have confused critics and fans with their evolution from garage-pop duo to post-punk four-piece in their previous endeavor, Telepathic pushes the pedal to th floor right from the get-go, combining a punk attitude with grungy noise-pop. You can catch them live this evening (with Hurry's Matt Scottoline filling in on drums) at Kung Fu Necktie opening for Providence, RI surf-rock trio Atlantic Thrills, who recently dropped its second LP Vices, and local lo-fi psych rockers Honey Radar. Weekend Warrior, August 21 - 23

With primal guitar shredding and all out rushes of penetrating, smashing percussion, Mannequin Pussy constructs heavy walls of sound. The immediate impact is apparent, as those instrumental tools of aggression are consistently put to good work in impactful blasts. However, amid that conquering vortex, a delicate, melodic core persists, playing off that noisy tornado to establish an intriguing dichotomy. Tonight at The Pharmacy, Mannequin Pussy will be joined by the guitar-driven psych-punk trio Telelpathic. Sarah Everton and Rob Garcia team up with Paul Brinkley in creating a relentless yet accessible collection of tunes, pushing forward while tempered/mellowed by calming, shared vocal duties. With a grimy backbone and a polished pop finish, 420 darling Colleen Green headlines the sold-out event. Telepathic Is in Your Head at The Great Indoors June 6

The trio of Telepathic, the latest musical concoction from former Bleeding Rainbow members Rob Garcia & Sarah Everton (Blowdryer) with Paul Brinkley, performs tonight at The Great Indoors. On their EP Powers of Ten, Telepathic embraces a straight-ahead hard-driving, riff-oriented punk approach, allowing their crisp interlocking vocals to ride the steady wave of guitar and flow-perpetuating percussion. It has a solid mixture of experienced refinement, while still retaining an edge one’s ear can grab onto. The group will be joined by The Guests, a local four-piece whose EP Red Scare '15, is filled with catchy slices of new–wave deep baritones, sleek synth, and that backend rhythm section propulsion, providing the space for clean jangly guitar. The adrenaline injection of hardcore outfit Socialite, featuring Perry Shall (Hound, Dry Feet) and Ian Dykstra (Little Big League, ex-Titus Andronicus), takes hold, fusing raunchy guitar and storming percussion with furious vocals. Tenacious Tallahassee hardcore trio Ex-Breathers completes the bill. The Great Indoors (Please contact one of the acts or venue for more info.), 7pm, $7, All Ages - Michael Colavita
