New Static Mountain Album Available for Streaming & Purchase

Psych rockers Static Mountain quietly released a new album at the end of 2016, which they titled Dream Boutique. Dedicated to their friends and family, "who have known any personal, professional, conditional, confessional, artisanal, or quasi-political struggle this past year," the Philly four-piece takes us on a guitar-driven musical excursion, laced with airy vocal harmonies and moments of contemplation. The album was mostly recorded by the band's very own Matt Williams at The HAUS, with addition drums recorded laid down at Spice House Sound, and mastering done by Jeff Lucci (of Air is Human).

Static Mountain Lift Off at Boot & Saddle Nov. 3

Psych-rock quartet Static Mountain lift off from an earthly summit through the upper atmosphere and into the unknown. However, the launch isn’t a rough rocket blast that shakes your core. It’s a smooth venture - harmony-rich that gently spirals into the void, instilling confidence at cruising speed before ratcheting into a heavier gear. Thick, tightly-sprung, heavy grooves propel this long-term expedition, jamming toward a new frontier. Tonight, the launch site is located at Boot & Saddle, where a pair of freshly sprouted local outfits in Cherry and Comb will join the ride, while the joy-inspired, self-described “baby punk” of Boston trio Free Pizza is certain to shake off those workday blues, releasing the tension in an exuberantly loose flourish. Boot & Saddle, 1131 S. Broad St., 7:30pm, $10, 21+ - Michael Colavita

Static Mountain Opening for Ed Shrader's Music Beat & Jackson Scott at KFN June 10

Static Mountain will be returning to the stage tonight when they open for Ed Shrader's Music Beat at Kung Fu Necktie. The local quartet (featuring Greg Foran and Matt Williams of Lightninging) has been tucked away in the studio working on its next album. They excitedly unleashed their latest single, "Silver & Gold," which is a glimpse at the type of epic psych rock that the group is working on refining, clocking in at eight minutes plus with mountain-climbing harmonies and heavy power chord licks. They'll also be joined by North Carolina-based, Syd Barrett-esque singer-songwriter Jackson Scott. Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 Front St., 8pm, $10, 21+ - Alexis V.

Static Mountain Opening for Hound at KFN May 26

Static Mountain enters Kung Fu Necktie this evening amid a flurry of activity. The quartet’s freshly released eponymous debut touches on a variety of musical directions from casual harmony-infused pop-rock to heavier, uptempo fuzzed-out guitar licks that give off a psychedelic grungy vibe. The band (which includes former Lightninging members Matt Williams and Greg Foran) seems to generate polished steady rockers that have a tendency to escalate toward high velocity. Static Mountain will be joined by hard-hitting trio Hound, whose addictively heavy aggression-laced garage rock is a runaway train of power and snarly attitude. Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 8pm, $8, 21+ - Michael Colavita
