THIS SATURDAY! Deli sponsored LPR's Mini-Fest "Rubblebucket Dream Picnic" at the Knockdown Center

(Le) Poisson Rouge is known for bringing eclectic NYC artists together, and their upcoming, Deli sponsored, mini-festival “Rubblebucket Dream Picnic" keeps faith to this trend. The show gets its name from its headliner and curator of this event, Rubblebucket, a funkadelic, uber-fun pop band led by an ensemble of experienced multi-instrumentalists originally from "Jam Band State" (Vermont). Joining the group are other NYC acts with a similar flair for the fun and groovy: Delicate Steve, Alexander F., and Kalbells (check them all out in the event's playlist, streaming below). More than just this exciting lineup, the Rubblebucket Dream Picnic is an all-ages event starting at 3pm that promises a variety of games and food as well as yoga, special guest DJs and... DELI MAGAZINES!!! It's a great way to escape the city without traveling too far on one of the last warm weekends of the year, on 09.30 at Richmond's Knockdown Center - there will be a shuttle taking you there from the Cobra Club Bar every 15 minutes, see you there! - Amanda Ogea

Rubblebucket is back with EP "Save Charlie" + plays Rockwood on 10.01

Rubblebucket, one of the most fun NYC based band to witness live (and also on record), originated from the very jammy Vermont scene, but through the years progressively morphed its musical offerings into a form of pop that's at once multifaceted, danceable and extremely enjoyable. They just released a new EP entitled "Save Charlie" - the title track is streaming below, but yo ucan stream it in its entirety here. They'll be playing at Rockwood Music Hall on October 1 - a way too small venue for them.

We added this song to The Deli's playlist of Best songs by emerging NYC artists - check it out!

Rubblebucket tours in support of live CD + appears on Kimmel show

Since their recent transformation from Vermont jam band to NYC experimental-ish indie collective (with some residue jam band influences) The Deli has become a big fan of Brooklyn octet Rubblebucket. These guys have another busy summer ahead, and this is understandable considering what a great party band they are. After releasing their fist live album and DVD this spring, “Rubblebucket: Live in Chicago” (see a video from it here) the band announced a summer tour with Athens “disco dust” rockers Reptar and their upcoming late night debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Vocalist and sax player Kalmia Traver and trumpeter Alex Troth met during college in Vermont, forming the band shortly after and enlisting an entire range of musicians and instruments that include anything from a Moog synth to an n'goni, an African banjo-predecessor. Rubblebucket will tour into fall, and are a set appear on “Jimmy Kimmel” on July 18. - Devon Antonetti
