Support XRAY.FM Tomorrow at X-ILE on Ray Street

We love XRAY. The community radio station has done tons in the realm of supporting not only local bands and solo musicians, but supporting other DIY outlets that promote artistic and creative endeavors. They give a lot to all of us so here's another opportunity for us to give back to them.

Tomorrow, Dig A Pony will be hosting a benefit show with the witty title of X-ILE on Ray Street. Tickets will be $5 and all proceeds going back into the volunteer run station.

Theo Craig and Chancie Chance will be playing tunes in between sets by the ever-entertaining Lola Buzzkill and the darlings of Psychomagic, not to mention the benefit also acting as the album release and tour kickoff show for the loveable Reptaliens (who also help set the benefit up!). Adding even more intrigue to the set, a secret special headliner will also be taking the stage.

Head down to Dig A Pony on SE Grand at 8 p.m. tomorrow to give a lil something to XRAY's cause, hang out with much of the fellow music scene and to figure out who the secret headliner is!

Come Together for the Sweet, Simple Things

Just in case you didn't get to make it out to HOMIEFEST 3 Friday and Saturday, you've got second chance to catch the Domestics and yet another Papi Fimbres affiliate, the established groove pop group Minden, play on Sunday at the next Rontoms' Sunday Session.

Sweet, Simple Things, the anticipated followup to last year's Saint, dropped on August 5 and continues to show Minden as the indie pop group that's got a bit of soul. This week's Sunday Session is a celebration of the album's release, and they'll be joined by the Domestics and Reptaliens (just days before they head out on tour) for the party.

As always, the Sunday Session is free, 21+ and starts at 8pm. Stop by Rontoms tomorrow and enjoy the last fun thing happening this weekend.

Reptaliens Announce Cali Tour

When former members of BRAINSTORM, Wampire and Blouse creatively combine with parts of Fog Father, you get an indelibly lo-fi, twee, garage pop-like sound à la a cocktail of Cults, Beach House and Ariel Pink that is impossible not to lovingly drink up. That cocktail comes by the name of Portland group Reptaliens, and they're taking their delicious sounds on a musical ride down the West Coast.

Reptaliens as a group may be newer, but its members are vets in the Portland music scene that know their way around a tour or two. This upcoming week-long excursion will find them starting out with their tour kickoff as part of XRAY.fm's benefit show and making their way down to the sunny skies of Los Angeles for a few shows, before stopping in Eugene on their way back up to Portland.

Check out Reptalien's tour dates below and be sure to see them off properly at Dig A Pony!

Saturday Night Sounds: Seance Crasher - "I Even Love You More"

Tonight, we've got a new one coming to you from Seance Crasher. "I Even Love You More" is a warm, jangly pop rock song that fills you with the feeling of just wanting to drive through the desert on a long road trip with that special someone.

Featuring Tammy Barnes (aka Bambi B.) from Repatliens on bass and backing vocals, the harmonies between Barnes and Kevin Rafn are infectious and aid in creating the overall good feel about the track.

On this lovely Saturday night, get in the fun having mood with "I Even Love You More."

Saturday Night Sounds: Reptaliens - "Forced Entry"

I'm trying out another new series here for the Deli Portland called Saturday Night Sounds. With it, I'm hoping to share a chill tune or two to be enjoyed by you doing whatever it is you do on Saturday nights. For its inaugural post, here is "Forced Entry" by Reptaliens. The track dropped some days ago, but I feel it's the perfect jam for this crisp weekend night. Both main members, Cole and Bambi B., have been literally immersed in various acts around Portland for the last few years. As Reptaliens' first track, "Forced Entry" conjures colorfully hazed happiness, like a pleasant dream transformed into a song.

Reptaliens are set to drop a full length, aptly titled Recordings, sometime in the summer of this year. Considering "Forced Entry" as a peek into what Recordings will sound like, we only have great things to look forward to with its release. Enjoy it below.
