The Loop Goddess Linafornia is about to bless 2016 in swaths of vinyl scratch and emerald shine with her debut YUNG, through Alpha Pup's sibling Dome of Doom. Since last summer's "wetttt" and the more recent "brownies", Leimert Park's underground empress has made waves playing a bevy of shows, including November's Manifestival at Los Globos. Galvanizing a crowd is nothing new to the beat battle veteran, whose diverse sampling and creative change-ups have recently led to her induction to the Beat Cinema podcast family. 

Having swept up the Leimert Park crowd yesterday with her record release party, Linafornia crosses the Rubicon tonight at The Airliner with Ras G, Astronautica, SWARVY, and the Low End Theory pantheon.

The LA Psychfest continues to curate acts that aren't psychedelic. More power to them.

2015 marks the festival's fourth year of existence, and also its first year away from the Bootleg Theater (currently accepting submissions for a new wall mural). Live performances by veteran Drab Majesty, Ras G, and singer-songwriter Jenny O. might not fit the genre of psychedelic, but they'll certainly expand your consciousness. Psych-rock mavens will still leave happy as locals JJUUJJUU and Mr. Elevator and the Brain Hotel join up with Moon Duo, Night Beats,Tomorrows Tulips, The Budos Band, and Earthless. Way more where that came from, with secret guest DJs, a custom poster by Tim Biskup, and live visuals at the Regent Theater and the Echo/Echoplex.

Linafornia is the pseudonym of a stalwart beat maker from Leimert Park who's been at it since 2014, earning her stripes from the revered Beat Cinema and open mic workshop Project Blowed. Raised in a city of musical innovators like Nocando and Open Mike Eagle, the bar is set high for any musician making a name out of the culturally rich LA neighborhood.

But lo-fi elbow grease and deep cuts of soul & funk are the marks of LP talent, and Linafornia's got all the makings of a producer, hitting the ground running with shows at the Low End Theory and PasswordLA. In her growing repertoire you'll find cloudy, washed-out abstractions alongside jazz flows, inspired by Ras G, Dibiase, and Samiyam. Her recent collab with Compton's geekster rapper DeviWonder is just a sampling of the magic this woman is capable of, and we can't wait to hear more! Linafornia's first major project, code-named YUNG, is currently underway and will be out in the future by Dome of Doom (Alpha Pup Records).
