Check Out This New PUJOL Video Courtesy of Everything is Terrible

File this under #SEIZURE. LA-based found-footage collective Everything is Terrible has teamed up with Daniel Pujol for his latest video "Manufactured Crisis Control." The result is a perfect compliment to PUJOL's hyper-intellectual punk rock, and exactly the thing you want to watch in a completely darkened room after a prolonged period of sleep deprivation. It ought to get your chops slobbering for his upcoming set at Freakin' Weekend VI; Pujol is playing Exit/In on March 14th with JEFF the Brotherhood. Get tickets here and checkout the full schedule over HURRR. -Terra James-Jura

PUJOL Releases Single "Pitch Black"

I picked up a new word while reading up on PUJOL. A kludge is “a clumsy or inelegant solution to a problem; an ill assortment of poorly matched parts, forming a distressing whole,” and also the title of the band’s new album. Slated for a May 20th release, it’s a follow-up to the acclaimed debut album “The United States of Being,” that won over listeners with smartass lyrics and Daniel Pujol’s bratty snarl. Judging by the vinegar in the shambling single “Pitch Black,” “Kludge” is sure to deliver the same punk in the face. Pujol will be at the Parish Underground On March 14th. –Terra James-Jura

Nashville Pioneers To Host Press Conference

A few weeks ago, fellow indie music blog No Country for New Nashville introduced us to Nashville's official ("official") basketball team. Though unrecognized by every official basketball association, Nashville's lack of a hoops crew leaves a gaping hole in the local sportsball circuit, allowing a perfect opportunity for the Nashville Pioneers to pick up the slack.

The team roster is stacked with a handful of local faces, from shop owners, to magazine masterminds, to musicians. Get to know your local hoopsters:

Adrien "Slingshot" Saporiti - Power Forward [Owner, DCXV]
Otis "Handyman" James - Forward [Fashion designer]
Chancellor "Ball So Hard" Warhol - Power Forward [Hip-hopper]
Dave "El Coyote" Pittman - Point Guard [Founder/Editor of Native Magazine]
Ben "Shaft" Elkins - Post [Musician, Heypenny]
Neil "Bear Hugs" McCormick - Post [Yazoo Brewery]
Jake "Double Dribble" Jones - Shooting Guard [Owner/Founder, Electric Western Records]
Andy "Teen Wolf" Mumma - Shooting Guard [Owner, Barista Parlor]
Evan "Death Laser" Donohue - Center [Musician]
Danny "Pterodactyl" Pujol - Center [Musician, Pujol]
Emil "King" Congdon - Post [Owner, Emil Erwin]
William "Tasty" Tyler - Forward [Musician]
Reno "Nevada" Bo [Musician, producer]

Bob "I Used to be a M***** F*****" Saporiti - Coach [Warner Bros. Records GM, retired]
Joe the Waterboy - Waterboy [Native Magazine]
Also rumored to have made the cut: Sam Palladio [Actor, Nashville]

The first game on the Pioneers's schedule is v. Rhode Island. If you're curious about how all of this is going to play out, tune into the live stream of the team's first press conference today over at No Country for New Nashville at 2:30 pm. –Brianne Turner

Soundland Announces 2012 Lineup

It seems as if "short but sweet" is Next Big Nashville's state of mind these days. Last year, the event's name was shortened to simply "Soundland," and this year the Nashville festival has been condensed to just one day of music. A self-described "one-day outdoor extravaganza," Soundland has a new home on the Riverfront Park lawn (which is such an ace venue in October, good choice) and the 2012 lineup features some local acts as well as some My Morning Jackets and some Young the Giants.

Local favorites such as Jonny Corndawg, Kopecky Family Band, and PUJOL are just a few of the supporting acts on the event's roster, but if the highlights aren't enticing enough, we have the full initial lineup here, too:

My Morning Jacket
Young the Giant
Divine Fits
JD McPherson
Jonny Corndawg
Kopecky Family Band
The Weeks
Night Beds
Wild Cub
Kansas Bible Company
Mystery Twins
Nikki Lane
PUJOL

Soundland takes place on October 6th. Tickets are on sale now.
