New Music Video: "Make It Her, Forever" - The Orange Drop

The music video for “Make It Her, Forever” by The Orange Drop may have slipped under our radar initially. However, now that it’s in full-view, we can’t look away. Featured on Stoned In Love (available via Mega Dodo), the video drills deep into a heady kaleidoscope. You can get lost in the vibes this Sunday, May 22 at Bourbon & Branch, where they'll be joined by Doug Tuttle and Lina Tullgren.

Weekend Warrior, January 6 - 8

The Orange Drop commemorate their latest album Stoned In Love, available via Mega Dodo, with a release show this evening at Bourbon & Branch. Sifting invitingly through vaporized warmth, the band circumvents one’s mind from cold exterior, shifting the focus onto a heady, melodic atmosphere. However, that cerebral journey goes beyond the pillowy marshmallow drifts, traversing treacherous heart-palpitating terrain amid the ethereal experience. Tonight, they’ll be joined by the consuming, thunderous thumping, heavy-psych module of Meddlesome Meddlesome Meddlesome Bells. The gloomy, resonating, sonic aftermath of Lunacy, a.k.a. Nick Kulp (ex-Far-Out Fangtooth, ex-Creepoid), also celebrates his latest release Life We Choose To Follow (Funeral Party Records) while the space-bombarding, reeled-in cruise of Seafrost kicks this show into gear. Bourbon & Branch, 705 N. 2nd St., 9pm, $10, 21+ - Michael Colavita

New Music Video: "Juniper Pearl" - The Orange Drop

Neo-psych outfit The Orange Drop continues further down the genre's rabbit hole in the group's new video for "Juniper Pearl". It's the lead single off the band's upcoming album, Stoned in Love, which was recorded at Spice House Sound and mixed by Colin Hegna (Brian Jonestown Masscre). The record will be released on vinyl and CD via the UK's Mega Dodo, and they'll be celebrating its arrival on Friday, January 6 at Bourbon & Branch with Meddlesome Meddlesome Meddlesome Bells, Seafrost, and Lunacy, who will also be welcoming a new EP.

Take a Starry-eyed Stroll w/Grubby Little Hands at JB's Feb. 13

Grubby Little Hands will be headlining the bill tonight at Johnny Brenda’s. The former duo’s upcoming album, Garden Party, which will be released on April 29 via Lefse Records, boasts a newly fortified lineup of instrumentalists, including members of Brown Recluse and Young Grandpa, equipping them with a wider, richer sonic spectrum for their languorous, whimsical psychedelia to survey. Thankfully, the addition of these members has not disturbed the feng shui of the band, as established by their first couple releases; the music continues its starry-eyed stroll down the path of experimental/experiential psych-pop that bands like Animal Collective and Atlas Sound paved with the same glassy, listless enlightenment. Supporting Grubby Little Hands is Grandchildren, the eclectic baroque pop band that draws inspiration as much from modern indie as Afropop, classical, and orchestral music. Also scheduled to perform is The Orange Drop, who model their sound more directly in the style of classic 60's psychedelic rock, while also inescapably passing and refracting through the lens of 90's neo-psychedelia on the way. Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 9pm, $10, 21+ - Bryce Woodcock
