Natural Child "Out in the Country"

Oh, where to start with Natural Child. The hard information: they just released their latest album, “Dancing With Wolves” on February 25th. They’re set to tour with The Black Lips in April, and will be playing Hotel Vegas in Austin for SXSW March 12th and 16th. The intangibles: the core trio of Natural Child, Wes Traylor, Zach Martin, and Seth Murray are probably some of the toughest, truest and hardest working artists on the scene. Since their inception, members have been added to create a 70’s style family band, and their raw, rowdy energy has wildly benefitted with each additional ruffian. “Out in the Country” demonstrates their expanded sound, and how bringing in a pedal steel player is very rarely a bad idea. Take any opportunity afforded to catch an earful of Natural Child’s hell-raising garage rock live. Just don’t bring your kids. They’ll have too many of questions you won’t want to answer. –Terra James-Jura

Natural Child Debuts "Derek's Blues"

Natural Child's contribution to your summer soundtrack was "B$G P$MP$N," the first release from their forthcoming album, Hard In Heaven. The song is an Americana-infused punk song with rap lyrics; the result is a bizarre cacophony that shouldn't work as well as it does and creates a vibe that stoners are absolutely going to dig. But their second release, "Derek's Blues," offers a sound a that focuses on the band's abilities as musicians and delivers a vibe that your parents might also appreciate... if they're stoners.

"Derek's Blues" was intially debuted over at Diffuser, but you can check out the track here.

Hard In Heaven is the band's third full-length album and the second to be released this year. The album will be available on September 18th. —Brianne Turner

Nashville Cream Announces Sixth Annual Anniversary Party

If you still haven't bought your tickets to the sixth annual Nashville Cream anniversary/birthday bash, it's probably because you haven't checked out the lineup yet. Taking place at Mercy Lounge and the High Watt, the party spans two venues for the price of one $8 ticket. At the Mercy Lounge, Natural Child, Pujol, and Sparkle City DJs have been announced as the evening entertainment, while over at the High Watt, Wild Club and Future Unlimited will be followed by the weekly Y2K dance party. And, just to heighten the sense of mystery and anticipation, there is still at least one more special guest that is set to be announced.

In addition to hours of music, the party will feature the typical blowout essentials: booze, prizes, dancing, liquor, a photo booth, free posters, and (most importantly) alcohol. Everything takes place at 9 pm on August 25th. You can get tickets here or at Grimey's, The Groove Record Shop, or Parlour & Juke Salon. -- Brianne Turner

TRISTEN

Lost Lander

Nashville can’t get enough of Tristen, and neither can The Deli's staff and readers, as it turns out. And it’s with good reason: the pop chanteuse with the honeyed vocals, who first came to Nashville only with the intent of writing songs rather than performing them, gained her notoriety last year with the stunningly gorgeous folk pop record "Charlatans at the Garden Gate". The loosely conceptual, debut full-length provoked a “wow” from listeners far beyond Music City, including NPR, Rolling Stone and the Wall Street Journal. The positive response Charlatans is racking up is well-deserved and a long time coming. Don't miss her at SXSW

NATURAL CHILD

The title of Natural Child's debut album says it all: "1971". This is revival rock at its best, with a range of influences spanning from Stooges to Rolling Stones to The Beatles and even some Nashville style good old folk. Who doesn't like good old rock'n'roll?

HEAVY CREAM

Heavy Cream's good looks surely enhance their blues-chord-tinged punk-rock 'n roll, but this band knows how to maxime the audience's sentiment of love for - well, again, damnit - singalongs. Singer Jessica McFarland bounces, belts and squeals her way through every catchy Cream chorus. Her special band helpers ripped and roared. It's only Rock'n'Roll, but it rocks and it rollls, ok?

RANCH GHOST

Pub music, when played as well (and as loud) as it should be, can contribute to spectacular nightly experiences. Ranch Ghost know something about this, and their unpretentious garage/rock'n'roll is the ideal soundtrack to your alcohol filled adventures.
