Humeysha releases sandy new single "Nusrat on the Beach"

Humeysha -- the project of musician and songwriter Zain Alam -- will release new EP Nusrat on the Beach on August 2nd; the record's name takes inspiration from a dream of Alam's, in which he saw legendary Pakistani vocalist and musician Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on the beach. You can hear some of the passion and devotion from Nusrat's music in the EP's title track, mixed with the chilled out indie sounds from Alam which convey the surf and sand. The whole song acts as an aural gateway to Alam's dream; you'll dream it yourself. Take a listen to "Nusrat on the Beach" below. - Will Sisskind

Humeysha plays the Knit on June 8th + talks about recording on Delicious Audio

I'm sure you know a musically clueless person who, when you mentioned the words "Indie Rock," thought you were referring to "Indian Rock"... well, if you were trying to introduce him/her to Brooklyn quartet Humeysha, you could have just said: "That's EXACTLY what I'm talking about!" - since they play Indie Rock with Indian influences! The band will be performing at The Knitting Factory on June 8th within the Boom Forest June residency Check out also the Q&A with Humeysha about recording on our sister blog Delicious Audio.

Just a few weeks ago we spent some positive words about Indian influenced psychedelic NYC band Humeysha, and it's great to see them gain some traction - the quartet will play Baby's All Right twice this week: tomorrow (03.23) at 9pm opening for Monika and on Friday 03.25 supporting HEEMS. It also unveiled a new video for single "For Love, from the Law," streaming below, from their self titled debut LP.

NYC discovery of the month: Humeysha's video for 'Burma betweenYou and Me'

Holy cow, Deli Readers! Check out this stunning song/video combo, directly from our digital submissions, which rarely reserve this kind of surprises (when they do, it's pure joy). The band in question is called Humeysha and - according to their Facebook profile - hail from NYC / LKO / KHI - which is enough info to include them in this blog, but fails to convey any other familiar location. However, their bio indicates Indian origins, betrayed rather heavily by their music and imagery. In October 2015 the quartet released a 14 track self-titled full length album that integrates Indian influences and western pop format in psychedelic ways that would make George Harrison proud. The video elevates the single's dreaminess with stunning and vaguely disturbing images. Kudos to all parts involved, this is beautiful art.
