Realigned Silverlake quartet Sun Drug (fka Vanaprasta) want to trepanate you with the video to their newest single "Soaked". Shot in the middle of Joshua Tree, "Soaked" is the second vanguard of Sun Drug's darker visions, following June's digital foray "Easy In Your Attitude".

The summer departure of drummer Ben Smiley, and the counsel of Rocco DeLuca changed the band's course from their 2011 debut Healthy Geometries. A full 180 on sound, the Sun Drug EP doesn't uplift; it agitates. It doesn't embrace guitar warmth; it fucks with synthesizer chills. Comprised of just three musicians, Caverns make music that plunges into many different subgenres of rock. Founded in 2012 by singer Nicola Wincenc, the NYC-based band released their first EP “Tonche” earlier this year, and has already landed some noteworthy gigs; just a few weeks ago they headlined Marc Jacobs’ NYFW show, and in another couple of weeks they will be playing the CMJ Music Marathon. Throughout their EP, Caverns smoothly blend the atmospheric soundscapes of shoegaze rock and airy melodies of psych-rock, while retaining, in their lyrics and vocal harmonies, the accessible qualities of pop music. Caverns is a NYC-based indie-rock band whose latest EP, 'Tonche,' seamlessly blends elements of psych-rock, prog-rock, and a bit of pop into a replay-worthy debut. The influence of classic acts on the group is undeniable. The EP's third track, "Count to Five" (streaming below), opens with a psychedelically dark guitar riff that would feel right at home on a Pink Floyd record, and yet there's enough of their own fingerprints on the music that it has a unique sound. The rest of the EP follows a similar pattern, succesfully blending a modern indie-rock nature with psych-and-prog-rock qualities. Caverns has made quite an impact with its debut record. The opening track, "Ghosts," already has over 30,000 plays on Souncloud, just 3 months after the EP's release.
