Garage rockers Stuyedeyed to play Drexlers 1/24

Stuyedeyed is serving up brash and brazen rock music with a major vintage vibe. With fuzzy layers so thick you can practically wrap yourself up in them, the Brooklyn-based band delivers a serious 70s guitar rock feel and loads of lo-fi goodness. Their latest single, "Mr. Policeman," deals with the themes of the BLM movement, and is sonically as unhinged as ever, offering up feral sounding vocal lines that compliment the frustration embedded in the lyrical content. Check out the single streaming below, and catch the band live at Drexler's 1/24 with Best Behavior.-Olivia Sisinni

Check Best Behavior's real behavior at Brooklyn Bazaar on 01.11

Notwithstanding their name, the guys in Best Behavior don't come across as exemplar human beings - not at all for that matter! First of all, they are said to partake in rambunctious parties during which they play electrical musical instrument, dance incontrollably, and sweat while wearing leather cloths - disgraceful behavior! Some decadent New Yorkers seem to enjoy that, may they find the Lord's true path. Secondly, they use sexually disturbing images on the cover of their records... we are speechless!! As if that wasn't enough, take their song 'Bad Habits' for instance (streaming below); it's a track inspired to sinful music of the '50s that discusses how bad habits are impossible to destroy... how self indulgent!!! Their 2015 album “Good Luck Bad Karma” includes other hummable songs such as “Magic” and “Buried on the Mountain,” which would be our favorite if we weren't so turned off by the band's moral terribleness!

(We are flirting with the idea of catching them live on January, 11th at Brooklyn Bazaar.)

Found in the CMJ list of official bands: NYC's Best Behavior plays Elvis Guesthouse on 09.21

Brooklyn's Best Behavior's 12 track debut album 'Good Luck Bad Karma' is just 22 days old, but it promises to age well. We found this band in the CMJ Music Marathon 2015 list of official artists, and immediately surrendered to their succinct and rough melodic gems, reinterpreting within their garage rock vocabulary many styles, including the longing psych rock of Best Coast ("Buried on a Mountain") and Nirvana's introverted, cathartic grunge (check out the chorus of opener "Star Signs," streaming). More lo-fi than any of the aforementioned bands, the band's record strikes the right balance between grittiness and spaciousness - which results in character. You can see them live at Elvis Guesthouse on September 21.
