The Beach Bats - New Record "Last Resort" Exclusive Premiere!

Hamilton beach rockers The Beach Bats are getting’ set to release their first full length album “Last Resort”. The record opens up with their lead single “How Long” which shows the band slowing down the pace a bit with a Jim Morrison swagger in the vocals. “Tropical Illusions” definitely brings the holiday vibes with a dash of psychedelics mixed with the spacious guitars. “Cursed” has an atmospheric keyboard lick start it off before settling into a head-nodding beat with a really groovy bassline. This track reminds me of some Red Hot Chili Peppers with the way the rhythm section stays together and the guitars float along on their own but still in sync with the rest of the instruments. Singer/Multi-Instrumentalist Tony Doni has certainly expanded his vocal style recently for the Beach Bats along with the aforementioned Morrison influences he is also hitting some lower range Scott Weiland notes which adds a cool dynamic to their surf inspired tunes. The Beach Bats hit the road to show off their new album visiting Hamilton, London, Montreal, Ottawa and the Toronto show kicks it off on Thursday April 25th at the Piston. "Last Resort" is available everywhere on Friday April 26th! – Kris Gies

The Beach Bats - Indie-Surfers Dark New Single "How Long"

Hamilton’s indie-surf rockers The Beach Bats have dropped a new single “How Long”. This laid back tune has the singer Tony Doni singing real low throughout the verse similar to Jim Morrison. The chorus is big and features some great backing vocals from Stephanie Pearl and Lauren Mikeala.  The surfy guitar licks of Chelsea White give the tune the classic Beach Bats character and keeps the surf vibes alive in this dark rocker tune. The Beach Bats play “The Bout” at the Hideout on March 1st. – Kris Gies

The Beach Bats - "Washed Up" EP

Beach/Garage Rockers The Beach Bats have released a new EP “Washed Up”…which I would say does not accurately describe the band since they are rather young now. The EP opens up with “Creature or Die”. Gentle waves crash in on the shore to set the tone then the bass kicks off a tune reminiscent of early 2000’s indie rock but still keeping their surf vibes rollin’. The guitar work from Goth Bikini especially adds excellent surfy tones to the thumpin rhythm section featuring Moon Mutt. It’s fun listening to this band. See them at Doors Pub in Hamilton on October 6th. – Kris Gies

The Beach Bats - "Beach Body"

Self professed "sandy garage rock from an inner city beach". The Beach Bats are from Hamilton. So they must be hangin out at the beach with the unswimmable water. If it helps them create these sweet surf-rock tunes then I hope they keep doin what their doing. Moon Mutt, Goth Bikini and Roger Banks are responsible for the Beach Bats. They mix surf rhythms with indie rock melodies along with 90s punk rock vocals. I could hear the tune "Beach Body" be played on the film "Clerks". - Kris Gies
