New Amanda X Single Release Available for Streaming & Download

Amanda X not only returned to the stage this past Saturday at Everybody Hits, they also released a pair of singles. Recorded by Dan Angel and James Ryskalchick at the Dungeon, “Vivid” captures a melodic awakening as the vocals intertwine and the bass pushes the pace, ascending and then spilling over into distorted guitar. “End of Days” jumps right in, recognizing the shortcomings of getting off to a bad start; it trades off vocally, while riding a contrasting exuberance. New Track: "Exquisite" - Amanda X

Giant, the forthcoming album from the trio of Amanda X, will be released via Self Aware Records on August 18, with proceeds benefitting Women Against Abuse. The record's starter,  “Exquisite,” gradually wakens as the guitar stretches before a percussive surge announces its arrival. Calmly contemplating lonesomeness, co-lead vocals volley back and forth, banked by the refined rush of instrumentation. Amanda X is slated on this Friday’s bill at Boot & Saddle, with Magic Deal and The Van Pelt.

Weekend Warrior, October 21 - 23

Disenchanting, unfiltered, steamrolling melodies streams from Amanda X. That focused post-punk sincerity tumbles ahead in a gritty, graceful manner, compiling a calm catharsis whilst simultaneously exposing the raw threads of emotion. This Saturday’s lineup at Everybody Hits is also reinforced by the delicate introspections of Yankee Bluff, whose loose jangly vibes are hardwired by a polished connection, and the bombarding, heavy rhythms and unrelenting riffs that coalesce as Hound swings for the fences. The exuberant, poetry-engrained punk of Pujol provides another intriguing wrinkle to this evening. Everybody Hits, 529 W. Girard Ave., 8:30pm, $8, All Ages (Photo by Scott Troyan) - Michael Colavita

Weekend Warrior, June 10 - 12

Since coming onto the Philly music scene, Mumblr is a band that has been consistently churning out some seriously interesting material. Led by the versatility of frontman Nick Morrison’s vocals, the quartet continues to refine its sound on its newest LP The Never Ending Get Down, which is out today via Austin-based label Fleeting Youth Records. I’m totally rooting for these guys to get more national attention and tours in the near future, and their latest album is sounding like another big step in the right direction. Tomorrow night, you can catch Mumblr tearing through songs from their new record as well as some of their older favorites at PhilaMOCA. It’s a rad lineup in which you also find the blistering “shitpunk” of Mannequin Pussy and the post-something power-gaze of Amanda X. PhilaMOCA, 531 N. 12th St., 8pm, $10, All Ages - Alexis V.

New Mumblr Album Available for Streaming

A fragile, on-the-edge, emotive exposure develops as the easily combustible, inwardly-isolated yet outwardly-rushing sound is created by Mumblr on their new record The Never Ending Get Down. While it won’t officially be released via Fleeting Youth Records until June 10, the quartet has revealed it over at Stereogum. Catch their record release show this Saturday, June 11 at PhilaMOCA with Amanda X and Mannequin Pussy
