RFA bassist Brendan McHale, a.k.a. Whaler Jr., has a new album out now via Castle Crank Records, titled Wasting Time. Bright, at ease, acoustic guitar and keys radiate an inherent warmth, which draws one toward the shoreline. An inviting, unpretentious nature is soaked in vocal harmonies, soothing the tension and offering reprieve. Tonight, Whaler Jr.'s record release will be held at PhilaMOCA, with support from NYC's The Misters and Tokyo's The Molice.

New Whaler Jr. EP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Whaler Jr., a.k.a. Brendan McHale (of RFA) recently posted his new EP. Atta Boy begins with its compact, breezy title track, while “Tired” casually coasts contrasting its self-accessing narrative with a sense of ease, throwing in some guitar sparks for good measure. “Coffee Fiddles” delicately awakens in acoustic strums, as wafts of morning brew welcome the day. This latest batch of recordings brightens with its thoughtful, bouncy bursts of energy.

RFA bassist Brendan McHale just released his debut self-titled album under the moniker Whaler Jr. The lo-fi LP was recorded on a handheld tape recorder and mixed through Garageband on his iPhone. McHale played most of the instruments on the record, except for the drums found in "Mississippi Rain," which were courtesy of Christian Turzo.
