Weekend Warrior, November 23 - 25

World Cafe Live will be showcasing a trio of local talents tonight. Clarity of thought arrives via youth as Masie Blu hits the stage. Blu blends soulful vocals, while also injecting a poetic, spoken-word approach. An unwavering confidence and wisdom shine throughout her music, providing a reassuring stability that cultivates a peaceful, motivating atmosphere. When paired with an array of refreshing, liquidy grooves, the power of those words/mantras is unlocked. This evening’s billing will be fortified by the genre-melding electro-experimentations of Kilamanzego, whom continuously creates an imaginative landscape, weaving a seamless quilt of sound that simultaneously celebrates the details and transitions. The silky, synthpop exploits of Gender Work comfortably complete this lineup, sharpening the mind whilst providing the body a vehicle or catalyst to let loose and get down. – Michael Colavita

New Track: "Myth of the Groove" - Kilamanzego

Kilamanzego recently shared a new single via Amsterdam based collective/label ZenSupremacy. “Myth of the Groove” crackles and quakes, as the warmth of synth invites, but simultaneously creates a mysterious atmosphere. Then, it finds its footing in vibrant, 8-bit matriculation. Step into that futuristic, funky, weightless beat, propelled naturally but not pushed. Kilamanzego will be joining a lineup that also includes Masie Blu and Gender Work, on Friday, November 23 at World Cafe Live.

New Track: "Red Light Green Light." - Kilamanzego

“Red Light Green Light.,” the new single from Kilamanzego, frenetically veers into new directions. It sets a dramatic scope, and then heads into a playful 8-bit, bass-bumping groove, inserting a twisted spin on Tierra Whack’s “Toe Jam”. Why try to pin it down when all its unexpected nuances are so masterfully brought together. Kilamanzego will be warping minds this Saturday, July28 at PhilaMOCA, alongside fellow experimental Philly sound sculptors NAH, Ada Babar, and Palm's Kasra Kurt, as part of the All Mutable Summer Jam. New smth savant Compilation Available for Streaming & Purchase

Music collective smth savant was formed last year by Philly producers Kilamanzego and Madam Data. Their monthly performance series Backyard Bxss has offered a common space for local beatmakers, showcasing experimental electronic producers and singers. The events are often live streamed on their Facebook page. As smth savant approach their first anniversary, they’ve released a compilation, featuring associated artists like Orion Sun and Mental Jewelry (both Mental Jewelry and Madam Data have collaborated with acclaimed Philly sound sculptor/emcee Moor Mother). The collective have facilitated some really exciting music in their first year, and this compilation is a solid retrospective on what they’ve already achieved. - Josh Kelly
